Strong level of attention to detail
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to become forklift certified
Ability to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch
Able to smell and hear leaking gas from cylinders
Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move up to 800 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees
Minimal travel required

Responsibilities

Sort empty cylinders being received by filling plant for refilling and perform necessary prefill inspection steps to qualify cylinders for refill
Examine returned cylinders for surface defects, such as dents, cracks, and burns, and roll cylinders to designated work area
Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Airgas standard operating procedures
Load cylinders on vehicles using hand truck, chain hoist, or forklift, and record type and quantity of cylinders
Load and unload gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers using proper carts
Sort empty cylinders by type
Roll cylinders and operate a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets
Understand hazards of various gases; read and interpret cylinder labels and color-coding of tanks; accurately label cylinders
Handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders; prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attach to manifold and evacuate cylinders to eliminate contaminants
Perform basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling cylinders, and cleaning of work area
Inspect cylinders prior to filling following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards; conduct safety checks such as odor tests, checking caps and valves
Fill cylinders by pressure and weight per regulations and standards
Check for cylinder quantities, styles, and product, and/or assist with inventory
Manage paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards; complete quality control sheets as required
Comply with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases
Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance
Other duties as assigned
