Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in managing wastewater treatment facilities including distributions, collections, and solids handling systems
  • Florida Wastewater Operators License
  • High school or equivalent, with technical/vocational school background; College degree preferred with focus in Environmental Areas
  • Ensure safety is the highest priority and that all SOPs are followed and DOT, OSHA, Health and Safety and other requirements are met
  • Conduct routine facility inspections
  • Interact with regulators as required
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and team leadership approach
  • Demonstrate financial acumen through oversight of operations

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the wastewater treatment facility serving the City of Clewiston, Florida, with two operators
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations, client representatives, contractors, and assigned engineering firms
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization
  • Handle compliance reporting
  • Manage staff development
  • Implement and manage an innovative asset management program
  • Administer and implement all routine and capital repair and replacement projects
  • Respond to emergency situations including process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, all alarm events, etc
  • Participate in “on call” rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours, including weekends, and respond to emergencies and inclement weather as needed
  • Work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures
