Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire
- Or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Board of Medicine Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state that services are provided and board certified or board eligible Upon Hire
- Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Admin State and federal DEA license based on state of practice Upon Hire
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties

Responsibilities
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
- Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members, contributing to health education of individuals and groups to increase motivation for self-care
- Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and formulates appropriate plan of care
- Provides quality care for patients, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
- Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care and provides patient instruction on environment of care and safety standards
- Understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
- Meets regularly with the care team for consultation and collaboration, as well as with personnel to promote quality care, and assures appropriate referrals are made
- Maintains patient records and accurate information
- Promotes Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
- Maintains confidentiality
