Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) - Licensed and qualified to practice medicine in the state of service, board certified or board eligible upon hire
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (state and federal) based on state of practice upon hire
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to medical staff approved protocols and acceptable standards of practice
Provide medical services and health education to patients and family members, using methods to increase motivation for self-care
Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Interpret diagnostic information and formulate appropriate plans of care
Provide quality care, demonstrating appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices
Recognize and react to environmental safety factors related to patient care and provide related patient instruction
Understand, apply, and support practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
Meet regularly with care team for consultation, collaboration, and quality care promotion; ensure appropriate patient referrals
Maintain patient records and accurate information
Promote Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
Maintain confidentiality
Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating workflow for productivity and efficiency
Comply with safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, OSHA)
