Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, process, and monitor medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
  • Provide medication information on proper usage, desired effects, potential adverse effects, and perform inventory control during distribution and administration
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, local laws, regulations, Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures for compliance
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, intravenous admixture, and prescription preparation/distribution
  • Mentor students, interns, technicians, and others in career plans or professional development
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and promote patient safety
  • Recommend changes within the department and facility to improve quality of care and services
  • Assist in drug use reviews, patient care audits, and detecting/reporting adverse medication reactions
  • Perform clinical activities such as kinetics, medication therapy monitoring, medication information, and educational programs
  • Monitor medication therapy, including analysis of patient’s medication therapy, medical problems, laboratory data, special procedures, and correlation with other clinicians
