Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including all regulatory and policy requirements
Knowledge of radiological equipment operation and quality control
Ability to assist physicians in interventional radiology procedures while maintaining sterile technique
Compliance with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality
Familiarity with state and federal regulations for radiology procedures
Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm and administering fluoroscopy
Skills in processing x-ray images and archiving to repositories, CD, or DVD
Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
Ability to draw up and label intravenous medication per organization policy
Competence in patient billing, including reviewing procedures, documenting charges, and verifying CPT and ICD9 codes

Responsibilities

Performs activities to prepare patient and procedure room for radiology procedures in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
Sets up/stocks procedure room and trays with supplies and equipment prior to procedure and cleans room/equipment post-procedure
Conducts necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents appropriately
Explains procedure to patient, answers questions, and addresses concerns
Assists with preparing patient for procedure by positioning, shaving, and prepping
Performs patient transfers and transports to/from procedure room
Inputs patient data into C-Arm
Acts as scrub assistant during interventional procedures, administers fluoroscopy, and maintains sterile technique
Draws up intravenous medication and labels per policy
Processes x-ray images and archives to image repository, CD, or DVD
Provides quality patient care by supporting quality standards, meeting regulatory requirements, and practicing CQI
Assists with implementing quality goals and action plans
Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and compliant; maintains integrity, files paperwork, and performs audits
Maintains environmental integrity, ensures areas are clean, sanitary, and safe
Inspects equipment daily before/after procedures, makes recommendations for replacements/repairs
Assists with disposal of hazardous waste, dirty linen, and rugs
Prepares, organizes, and utilizes supplies/equipment efficiently to prevent waste
Attends/participates in Governing Body meetings, assists with agenda and data gathering
Ensures effective communication with physicians and addresses their concerns
Attends/participates in CQI meetings, reports on assigned topics
Works with physicians/staff to ensure necessary instruments/equipment are available
Assists in training and orienting new employees
Ensures accurate and timely patient billing by reviewing procedures, documenting charges, and verifying codes
Assists with inventory and supply management
