Candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, a valid California driver’s license is preferred, and a personal experience with mental health, substance use, or trauma conditions. Successful completion of the 80-hour Peer Support Learning training or an equivalent within 90 days of hire, along with current techniques of behavioral intervention training within six months of hire, is required.
Peer Support Specialists provide direct services to individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or trauma issues, guiding and supporting them toward increased wellness through a personal commitment to recovery and sharing learned techniques. They monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation across North America and develop HR policies to ensure compliance. They will also conduct audits, deliver training, and advise management on HR-related risk mitigation strategies.
