Requirements

  • Experienced Certified Dialysis Tech (CCHT certification)
  • Ability to float to all clinics within the Albany area
  • Knowledge of FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and compliance with corporation, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to function under direct supervision of a licensed nurse

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
  • Welcome patients and inquire about well-being
  • Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation
  • Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and perform evaluations
  • Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments per prescribed orders (including QB, QD, UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling, UF modeling)
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide interventions as prescribed
  • Monitor patient response, perform machine safety checks, and report changes or unusual findings to supervisor
  • Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming
  • Ensure safety alarms (e.g., NVL 160) are enabled
  • Document vital signs, treatment parameters, interventions, and evaluations accurately on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and progress notes
  • Obtain laboratory testing and prepare specimens
  • Maintain safe, clean environment: clean/disinfect machines, chairs, equipment, and areas between treatments
  • Conduct preparation tasks for dialysis treatments and document
  • Support Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), CQI activities, patient satisfaction, and process improvements
