Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • Successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program
  • Successful completion of CPR certification
  • Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, reliable
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments
  • Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient
  • Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed
  • Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy
  • Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures
  • Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor
  • Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collect, label, appropriately prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications
  • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy
  • Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education
  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste
