Requirements

Ability to adhere to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory, and FMS policy requirements
Functions under direct supervision of a licensed nurse
Compliance with corporation, state, and federal regulations

Responsibilities

Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards; provide outstanding customer service to all customers
Develop and maintain effective relationships through communication; respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues
Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
Welcome patients, inquire about well-being, report complaints/observations to nurse supervisor
Evaluate vascular access for patency pre-treatment, report unusual findings
Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight, report unusual findings
Perform vascular access cannulation, report difficulties/unusual findings
Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders (QB, QD)
Evaluate intradialytic problems and intervene as prescribed or directed
Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy, report unusual findings
Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion; perform functions for treatment discontinuation and document
Discontinue dialysis per procedures
Evaluate patient prior to venous access termination (standing/sitting BP)
Obtain hemostasis and apply dressings; evaluate patient prior to discharge, report findings
Perform and record pre/post dialysis evaluation, weight, vital signs with initial identification
Calculate and enter patient-specific dialysis machine programming (UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling, UF modeling)
Ensure safety alarms enabled (e.g., Narrow Venous Limits 160)
Record accurate/timely vital signs and treatment parameters on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet with initial identification
Accurately document patient treatment information, including completion of Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet
Setup and operate hemodialysis machines
Assist in maintaining safe and clean working environment
Support Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI activities, including patient satisfaction and process improvements
