Responsibilities

  • Drive the FMS culture through values and customer service standards
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships through effective and timely communication
  • Take initiative to respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues
  • Set up and operate hemodialysis machines
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • Support the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI activities related to patient satisfaction
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities to achieve QEP goals
  • Assist in providing patient-specific education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
  • Welcome assigned patients, inquire about well-being, and report complaints or observations to nurse supervisor
  • Evaluate vascular access for patency pre-treatment and report unusual findings to nurse supervisor
  • Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; report unusual findings
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties or unusual findings
  • Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
  • Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD)
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide interventions as prescribed or directed
  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report unusual findings
  • Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform functions for treatment discontinuation; document
  • Discontinue dialysis treatment per established procedures; evaluate patient (standing/sitting BP) prior to venous access termination
  • Obtain hemostasis and apply appropriate dressings
  • Evaluate patient prior to discharge and report unusual findings
  • Perform and record pre- and post-dialysis evaluations, weight, and vital signs with initial identification
  • Calculate and enter patients' dialysis machine programming for UF goal, treatment time, Na modeling, and UF modeling as prescribed
  • Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including Narrow Venous Limits (NVL) 160
  • Record accurate and timely vital signs and treatment parameters on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet with initial identification
  • Accurately document patient treatment information, including completion of Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and progress notes if applicable
  • Report significant information or changes in patient condition directly to nurse supervisor
  • Observe patient and conduct monitoring
