Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
  • Bi-lingual experience (preferred but not required)
  • Working knowledge of department procedures related to work performed
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
  • Some independent judgment

Responsibilities

  • Greeting incoming patients and visitors
  • Performing all patient registration duties, including entering pertinent patient information
  • Explaining various registration forms
  • Verifying insurance eligibility
  • Collecting payment for services
  • Providing excellent care and service to patients, guests, and fellow employees at all times
  • Answering incoming calls, screening as necessary, and transferring as requested
  • Greeting and directing employees, visitors, patients, business representatives, and the general public arriving at the facility
  • Providing general information regarding the facility and department functions and procedures
  • Communicating with team members throughout various areas within the facility using telephone, mobile communication, computer, and other office-related equipment
  • Operating overhead page system
  • Processing computer admissions and patient transfers within the facility
  • Interviewing patients or relatives regarding personal and insurance information
  • Instructing patients and relatives on related policies and procedures
  • Recording and typing patient and insurance information and obtaining appropriate signatures
  • Ensuring all necessary consents and HIPAA forms are signed and completed
  • Preparing appropriate paperwork for next day’s patient schedules, including pre-registration
