Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Entry-level designation into Clinical Advancement Program (CAP); dialysis experience not required (will train)
  • Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, moving equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance), lifting solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Completion of CAP requirements to advance
  • 12-week paid training provided

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plans, and notify supervisors/physicians as needed
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education
  • Direct and provide, in collaboration with staff, safe and effective hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
  • Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms, documenting justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping; reschedule missed/insufficient collections
  • Identify expected outcomes; document and update nursing assessment and plan of care via collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Perform all essential functions under direction of Supervisor, with guidance from Clinical Educator/Preceptor, or in collaboration with other RNs
  • Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
