Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) license
No prior RN dialysis experience required (entry-level CAP 1 position)
Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending over, and occasionally moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance)

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plans, and notify supervisors/physicians as needed
Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education
Direct and provide, in collaboration with staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms, documenting justification and effectiveness
Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping; reschedule missed/insufficient collections
Identify expected outcomes, document and update nursing assessment and plan of care via collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
Complete CAP requirements to advance
Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
All duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, nursing standards, state/federal regulations; under direction of Supervisor with guidance from Clinical Educator/Preceptor or collaboration with other RNs
