Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • No prior RN dialysis experience required (entry-level CAP 1 position)
  • Ability to perform physical demands: heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending over, and occasionally moving machines/equipment up to 200 lbs. (with assistance)

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post hemodialysis treatment, document in medical record, adjust treatment plans, and notify supervisors/physicians as needed
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education
  • Direct and provide, in collaboration with staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
  • Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms, documenting justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping; reschedule missed/insufficient collections
  • Identify expected outcomes, document and update nursing assessment and plan of care via collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • All duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, nursing standards, state/federal regulations; under direction of Supervisor with guidance from Clinical Educator/Preceptor or collaboration with other RNs
