Requirements

  • 3+ years managing technical or open-source communities
  • Familiarity with at least one security domain (cloud, container, or incident response) and the ability to understand code snippets and Falco rules
  • Experience with Linux and cloud native technologies, especially Kubernetes and its ecosystem
  • Comfortable building dashboards from APIs or CSV exports
  • Familiarity with DevRel/GitHub Actions workflows
  • Experience with open source and promoting inclusive, collaborative communities, identifying opportunities for engagement
  • Comfortable speaking publicly and working with users and developers both online and in person
  • Track record moderating forums or chat platforms (Discourse, Stack Overflow, Discord)
  • Event-planning experience (online and in-person)
  • Prior hands-on experience with open-source security tools (e.g., Falco, Wireshark, Stratoshark, SysdigOSS)

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the strategy and daily operations of the open-source community forum, turning it into a vibrant, inclusive space that accelerates community growth
  • Work with open source user base of security engineers, DevOps practitioners and researchers from onboarding to power user—by reducing friction, developing knowledge-base
  • Define and track community health metrics (e.g., MAU, NPS, response times, churn), set quarterly OKRs, and ensure engagement
  • Establish standards, and improving content discoverability through tagging
  • Foster a welcoming and respectful environment by enforcing the code of conduct, responding to complex posts or escalating to SMEs, and maintaining Discourse plug-ins and integrations
  • Grow content and engagement programs such as tutorials, AMAs, release notes, security advisories, and quarterly CTFs/webcasts in partnership with the research team
  • Build community advocacy through MVP/ambassador programs, recognition efforts, and weekly "Top Threads" recaps for newsletters and social media
  • Channel feedback to influence product and documentation roadmaps
