Udacity is seeking a Contract Visual Instructional Designer to enhance the creation of course content. This role involves working on various course projects, collaborating with remote designers, reviewing content from the Content Build Team, and driving the creative visuals for videos. The ideal candidate is fluent in English, possesses strong creative skills, and can clearly communicate design concepts. Excellent communication and experience in cross-functional teams are essential. Udacity values individuals who can manage multiple projects while knowing when to seek clarification.

Responsibilities

  • Translate technical content into a visual medium by interpreting approved scripts and providing visual design instructions.
  • Estimate the time required for creating specific designs (e.g., icons, GIFs, AI-generated images, b-roll, technical drawings) and identify necessary tools.
  • Collaborate with Technical Content Developers to find the best visual representations for content, regardless of the topic.
  • Clearly communicate design vision to individuals with and without design backgrounds.
  • Proactively propose and implement improvements to departmental processes.
  • Design complex charts, graphs, and data-driven visuals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Instructional Designer.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Suite, and Generative AI visual tools.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • People management skills.
  • A strong eye for design.
  • Experience creating technical educational content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects.
  • Basic knowledge of computer science, AI, or data science.
