Candidates should have a BS/BA in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. They must possess a solid understanding of network fundamentals, including IP subnetting, Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, VLANs, MAC addresses, port speeds, optics, and routing. A minimum of 5 years of experience with network protocols such as BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, Multicast, CoS, TCP, and IPv4/IPv6 is required, along with 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer for a content or network provider. Experience with data center network architectures and structured cabling in a data center environment is essential, as is vendor management experience for logistics and infrastructure.
The Senior Network Data Centre Technician will collaborate with Engineering and Product teams for capacity planning and growth, providing Tier 1 troubleshooting for network issues and managing console DNS mapping. They will oversee network hardware management, troubleshoot Layer 1 optical network issues, and partner with engineering teams on structural cabling projects. The role includes leading operational excellence projects to address recurring network issues, conducting network studies for optimization, and participating in internal groups to evaluate new technologies.
