Requirements

Valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal Certificate of Qualifications)
Full set of metric standard tools
Exposure with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, and welding/cutting
At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Able to read mechanical drawings
Availability to work shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed
Interpersonal, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
Able to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift
Able to work at heights and in confined spaces

Responsibilities

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machinery
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, and examining parts
Determine changes in dimensional requirements by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other instruments
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, and straightedges
Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently
Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery
Cut and weld metal to repair broken parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment
Repair and maintain industrial production and processing machinery and equipment
Assist with planning and closing work orders in Maximo
Record parts and materials used, order or requisition new parts as necessary, and document repairs and maintenance
Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
