Requirements

Minimum level of supervision to perform various microbiology laboratory activities
Ability to detect deviations in cleanroom environmental contamination control and make recommendations to resolve quality issues
Knowledge of medical device manufacturing in controlled environments and microbiological research
Skills in sample preparation, testing, analysis, result reporting, and compliance with safety and quality standards
Ability to handle products with personal protective equipment (PPE)
Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and regulations for handling materials, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste per internal procedures and local, state, and federal norms
Technical skills and scientific knowledge to support lab superintendent and/or quality control manager

Responsibilities

Collects, sends, and follows up on laboratory samples to external labs or internal departments
Performs and documents bacterial endotoxin determination tests on finished products
Performs and documents finished product release tests post-sterilization (LRV Endotoxin, LRV Bacteria, Ultrafiltration)
Performs and documents product monitoring tests (Bioburden)
Responsible for preparation, sterilization, and certification of culture media
Maintains the laboratory strain collection (cepario)
Assists the Microbiology team in research tasks and communication
Provides support to the plant in requested extraordinary monitoring and administers its system
Manages laboratory consumables inventory and requests purchases from corresponding personnel
Participates in the laboratory 6S program
Supports the lab superintendent and/or quality control manager in various requested activities related to the position
Supports execution of test methodology validations
Supports change control documentation activities, personnel training, updates and reviews as author in the digital document management system, etc
Handles products with PPE and stays updated on procedures for material and hazardous waste management per internal procedures and regulations
