Requirements

High school diploma (or equivalent) required plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics, plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical laboratory
Ability to work 12-hour night shift (6:00 pm to 6:00 am) with rotating schedule (every other weekend off)
Willingness to undergo initial training on day shift before transitioning to night shift

Responsibilities

Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing, and environmental monitoring to ensure products are fit for use
Work collaboratively with fellow microbiologists with high motivation, attention to detail, and clear communication in a small team environment
Prioritize tasks for efficient completion with accurate results and contribute to teamwork
Perform product testing, environmental testing, and raw ingredient testing
Handle documentation, project work, and troubleshooting
Conduct media preparation, general lab work, and housekeeping
Meet compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures
