Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics, plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical laboratory
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shift (6:00 pm to 6:00 am) with rotating schedule (every other weekend off)
  • Willingness to undergo initial training on day shift before transitioning to night shift

Responsibilities

  • Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing, and environmental monitoring to ensure products are fit for use
  • Work collaboratively with fellow microbiologists with high motivation, attention to detail, and clear communication in a small team environment
  • Prioritize tasks for efficient completion with accurate results and contribute to teamwork
  • Perform product testing, environmental testing, and raw ingredient testing
  • Handle documentation, project work, and troubleshooting
  • Conduct media preparation, general lab work, and housekeeping
  • Meet compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures
