Requirements

  • Ability to design, develop, and execute strategies for product categories aligned with sales, qualitative, and quantitative criteria
  • Proficiency in managing merchandise profit and loss, including short-term and long-term planning, forecasts, sales, markdowns, market share growth, gross profit, and inventory targets
  • Skills in data analysis, item-level assortment analysis, vendor/SKU optimization, price ladders, and private label/brand development
  • Experience with vendor management, including negotiating agreements, costs, allowances, quality, delivery terms, and maintaining domestic/international relationships
  • Capability to oversee marketing aspects such as tab space planning, item selection, forecasting, execution, media accuracy, and inventory exit strategies
  • Knowledge of new item/promotional forecasts, item deletions, markdowns/markups/price adjustments, line reviews, modulars, seasonal sets, and promotional planning
  • Willingness to attend trade shows and buying trips to identify vendors and enhance categories
  • Leadership skills in coaching, mentoring, providing direction to team members, and administrative support for negotiations, purchase orders, and supplier issues
  • Ability to build stakeholder relationships, adapt to changes, implement processes, ensure customer communication/education, and collaborate with merchandising teams
  • Understanding of customer behavior, category finances, sales reporting, forecasting, budgeting, modular layouts, item sharing, replenishment, and pricing

Responsibilities

  • Manage merchandise profit and loss through proactive/reactive planning and achieving targets for forecasts, sales, markdowns, market share, gross profit, and inventory
  • Develop category strategies via data review, assortment analysis, vendor/SKU optimization, price ladders, and private label/brand development
  • Conduct regular store visits and communicate strategies to cross-functional teams for planning and execution
  • Negotiate and manage vendor agreements, costs, allowances, quality, delivery; develop and maintain vendor relationships
  • Handle all marketing aspects: tab space/item planning, selection, forecasting, execution, media accuracy, and inventory exit strategies
  • Oversee new item/promotional forecasts, item deletions, markdowns/markups/price adjustments, and exit strategies
  • Lead line reviews, deliver store-ready modulars/seasonal sets on time, and complete promotional planning
  • Attend trade shows and buying trips to identify new vendors and enhance categories
  • Coach/mentor team members, provide administrative support for supplier negotiations, manage purchase orders, and resolve supplier issues
  • Support business solutions implementation by building relationships, determining processes, adapting to changes
  • Ensure execution of customer communication/education, collaborate with modular/site teams, maintain product page accuracy
  • Guide suppliers/vendors on customer-focused processes/products, track category finances against targets, create sales reports, support forecasting/budgeting
