Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or 4 years related experience)
  • At least 18 years of age (for Adolescent Units, at least 2 years older than the oldest resident)
  • Current active driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to attend New Hire Orientation for two weeks, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • American Heart Association CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training within 60 days of hire
  • Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) trainings within 90 days of hire
  • 160-hour Supervised Traineeship Program requirement
  • Medication Administration Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Availability for full-time, part-time, or PRN shifts including 1st, 2nd (3pm-11:30pm), and overnight (11pm-7:30am); float coverage for residential and inpatient units

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, interact with patients, attend to patient needs, and help in crisis intervention as needed
  • Transport patients to and from appointments, clinics, laboratories, treatments; remain with residents during off-site appointments or emergency room visits
  • Facilitate and transport residents for community outings and meetings
  • Ensure safe practices for medication observation and administration, including the six rights of medication safety
  • Facilitate on-the-job training for new and existing Mental Health Technician (MHT) team members
  • Assist in providing therapeutic patient care, leading groups and one-to-one sessions; support CBT, DBT, and ERP therapies throughout shift
  • Respond to emergency and/or crisis situations and support visitor safety
  • Actively observe, monitor, and record patient behavior and activities (e.g., meals and food intake); complete documentation and daily treatment progress notes in the medical record
  • Ensure safety and accurate location of patients at all times, including milieu management
  • Monitor safety of patients, visitors, and environment, including infection control; complete daily environmental rounds for safety, sanitation, codes, door locks, and alarms
  • Safely check residents into unit at admission or return from off-ground pass or activity
  • Report any changes in patient condition or safety to the treatment team
  • Orient and educate patients upon admission; complete admission and discharge processes including belonging searches and required documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as maintaining knowledge of department processes, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education, and participating in committees, task forces, or work groups
