Requirements

  • Commitment to the role for at least 1-2 years
  • Interest in pre-med tracks (e.g., MD/DO/PA/NP programs), Health Informatics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Medical Coding, or related fields
  • Ability to work full-time (40 anticipated weekly hours)

Responsibilities

  • Support primary care providers with clinical documentation to allow focus on patient care
  • Huddle each morning with providers to plan for the day's visits
  • Join providers in the exam room to observe and document patient encounters in real time
  • Touch base after visits to assist with next steps
  • Serve as clinical documentation assistants (CISs - Clinic Informatics Specialists)
  • Become experts in value-based care model, documentation and care of chronic conditions, ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Help providers identify and close care gaps using expertise
  • Participate in extensive on-the-job training in clinical workflows, value-based medicine, preventative care for chronic conditions, accurate documentation, population health data streams, and team-based care
