Medical Science Liaison, Neuropsychiatry (MSL)

Employment Type: Full time Salary: $135,000 - $190,000 (Illinois; may vary for other locations) Location Type: Field-based Travel: Approximately 50%

Position Overview

Tempus is seeking a high-performing and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with a strong clinical and scientific background in psychiatry genomic testing. This field-based role will support the commercial, research, and educational objectives of the company by educating healthcare providers about Tempus' neuropsychiatry (nP) offerings. If you are passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry, this is an exciting opportunity to leverage AI's impact on clinical care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and serve as an expert on Tempus nP test offerings, including regular interpretation and medical consultation with ordering clinicians.
  • Function as a sales team support and regional expert for Tempus nP test offerings.
  • Promote the exchange of clinical, scientific, and technical information with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other physicians in the mental health/psychiatry field.
  • Facilitate education for a broad healthcare provider community (KOLs, community physicians, medical directors, etc.) regarding Tempus nP products through in-person or webinar-based presentations.
  • Proactively and reactively communicate validated scientific data.
  • Identify opportunities to close educational gaps for internal teams in collaboration with the Learning & Development team.
  • Attend conferences and key meetings, providing comprehensive synopses and summaries of high-impact abstracts, posters, and oral presentations.
  • Continuously update internal stakeholders on relevant medical and scientific knowledge.
  • Proactively develop market intelligence on existing competitor products and products in development.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of the field of Pharmacogenetic testing (PGx) and related patient management assessments.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific topics and concepts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, team player mentality, and strong inter- and intradepartmental management skills.
  • Ability to educate and train others.
  • Self-starter with an ownership mindset, capable of working and delivering on tight timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing psychiatry KOL portfolio or experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Some clinical experience is preferred (e.g., experience seeing patients, clinical documentation, clinic operations).

Education and Experience

  • Scientific or medical degree (APRN, PA, MSN, BSN, MD/DO, PharmD, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of psychiatry/mental health is required.
  • Basic understanding of molecular testing is strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years of MSL experience in the diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
