  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) within 2 Years, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) within 2 Years, or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 2 Years, or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 2 Years
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

  • 3-year commitment working as a Medical Assistant after completing schooling and certification

Responsibilities

  • Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency
  • Provides accurate, completed, legible, and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record
  • Maintains timely flow of patients
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests; assists with patient and family education on procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and health/wellness maintenance, based on competency
  • Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs
  • Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures
  • Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials; performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning, equipment quality control, and maintenance
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy; follows procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste
  • Provides back-up help for front desk personnel, including answering telephone, scheduling and canceling appointments, and scheduling consult patients
  • Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development and ability to respond to specific patient/customer issues and data
