Responsibilities

  • Study towards a Level 4 Engineering, Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, including a HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Attend Cambridge Regional College 1 day per week
  • Spend remaining time on work-based placements (typically 3-6 months), including rotations in areas such as Mechanical Design, Mechanical Analysis, Materials and Processes, Design Definition Office, Configuration management, Environmental Engineering & Facilities, Industry Policy, Supply Chain and Procurement
  • Use industry standard engineering software packages such as Creo Parametric, Altair HyperMesh, and Ansys
  • Learn key engineering design and analysis skills, including calculation of mass properties, limits and fits, understanding of material properties and selection process
  • Apply structural and dynamic analysis techniques
  • Work as part of a multi-functional project team, collaborating with colleagues from Electronics, Environmental engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Assist in achieving Professional accreditation through the IMechE, IET or RAeS
