  • 5 x GCSE qualifications at Grade 4 - 9, including Maths at Grade 5/6 (B), English language, and a Science, technology or Engineering related subject
  • 96 UCAS points through A level qualifications, minimum C for each subject, to include Maths
  • OR
  • 96 UCAS points through a single 90+ credit Engineering BTEC Level 3 Diploma (MMM) PLUS Further Mechanical or Further Electrical Principles
  • 96 UCAS points through a full T level qualification at Pass (with a minimum C or above on the core)
  • Enjoyment of Maths and its practical application

Responsibilities

  • Complete a four-year Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, aligned with the Institute for Apprenticeships Engineering manufacturing technician standard, including an HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Attend day release at Cambridge Regional College for four years, with remaining time on rotational placements (typically 3 months, some longer)
  • Undertake placements in areas such as Mechanical Design, Mechanical Analysis, Materials and Processes, Design Definition Office, Configuration management, Environmental Engineering & Facilities, Industry Policy, Supply Chain and Procurement
  • Use industry standard engineering software packages such as Creo Parametric, Altair HyperMesh, and Ansys
  • Learn and apply key engineering design and analysis skills, including calculation of mass properties, limits and fits, understanding of material properties and selection process
  • Apply structural and dynamic analysis techniques
  • Work as part of a multi-functional project team, collaborating with colleagues from Electronic & Environmental engineering
  • Achieve Professional accreditation through the IMechE/IET/RAeS
