Responsibilities

  • Develop, release, and manage work orders based on customer requirements, lead times, and capacity constraints
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing to ensure material and resource availability for scheduled jobs
  • Translate engineering drawings and specifications into routings and manufacturing steps for machined components
  • Monitor job progress and adjust schedules to address issues such as machine downtime, material delays, or labor shortages
  • Coordinate with machinists and supervisors to prioritize jobs and resolve production bottlenecks
  • Review customer orders and confirm delivery dates based on capacity and resource planning
  • Maintain accurate production schedules and communicate updates to internal stakeholders
  • Analyze shop performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, throughput, WIP) and suggest improvements
  • Ensure that planning data in ERP/MRP systems is accurate and up to date
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on lead time reduction, productivity, and quality
