Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working in the food manufacturing industry
  • 4 years of experience working as an experienced level maintenance mechanic (totaling minimum 5 years in related jobs)
  • Complete working knowledge of the manufacturing process
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts (6p-6:30am, 2-2-3 schedule) including weekends, overtime, and occasionally flexible hours
  • Knowledge of food grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene)
  • Complete knowledge of fabrication techniques
  • Complete knowledge of all tools required for industrial maintenance, including those used to broach, mill, and lathe
  • Electrical knowledge, including reading electrical schematics, identifying motor frame/power load/amp draw, basic knowledge of control power and main power, and soldering techniques (professional electrical tools like voltmeter and amp meter required, owned by candidate)
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and water systems
  • Ability to identify and understand all different lubricants and their uses
  • Ability to read and interpret quality documents, safety rules, manufacturing specifications, and schematics
  • Possess a full complement of necessary hand and power tools for industrial manufacturing
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, triage, and be self-motivated in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate and understand safety issues, including reading safety equipment information and relaying to coworkers
  • PLC experience (plus)
  • Language skills to read and interpret documents

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment (e.g., assembly, conveyors, forming, mixing, oven operations)
  • Follow work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including use of all PPE and safety equipment
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, detect defective items, test, and make final adjustments on high-speed production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical functions
  • Prioritize and triage in a fast-paced work environment
  • Maintain equipment per diagrams, manufacturer specifications, preventative maintenance work orders, and scheduled PMs
  • Generate work orders and parts requests
  • Use machine shop and related machines to repair parts or fabricate modifications
  • Complete work orders, PMs, and related documentation
  • Use mechanical and pneumatic processes (e.g., cylinders, glue machines, date coders)
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate machinery
  • Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, and technical knowledge through active participation in training
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government)
