Requirements

  • Bachelors/Associates degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry (preferred, but will consider relevant laboratory experience)
  • Familiarity or prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good computer skills, comfort using computers for manufacturing (experience with Excel, Word, Jira/Confluence, web-based or similar programs)
  • Ability to work in a controlled laboratory environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours or flex shifts (including possible shifts: Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday, 7AM-7PM/7:30PM, 12h days, 3/4 day alt work week with 1 weekend day)

Responsibilities

  • Assist production supervisor and guide work of manufacturing associates on the floor
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and instrumentation
  • Take responsibility for daily operations when supervisor is unavailable (equipment maintenance, fulfill production requests, retain review)
  • Maintain daily operations with or without supervisor
  • Review time-sensitive materials and calendar events
  • Oversee material inventory and waste management for the shift
  • Monitor flow of intermediate products through Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and notify supervisor of discrepancies
  • Review JIRA tickets with supervisor to create action items
  • Enforce checklists and auditing activities in the production process
  • Train new laboratory manufacturing associates
  • Work in the laboratory and perform any process tasks
  • Manufacture high-quality custom oligo-containing products according to SOPs
  • Operate laboratory equipment and liquid handling robots (e.g., Hamilton Stars, centrifuges, sealers, thermocyclers, spectrometers, Illumina Next-Gen sequencers)
  • Use molecular and cell biology processes/techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA quantitation, purification, cloning)
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, detailed documentation using templates and applications
  • Update and write work instructions and documentation
  • Work independently and safely
  • Pay attention to detail for consistent results
  • Perform troubleshooting and handle process deviations
  • Analyze data from manufacturing steps and decide/recommend actions
  • Follow lean manufacturing, ISO, and GMP practices
  • Maintain production schedule, troubleshoot, guide shift associates, and perform manufacturing tasks (e.g., operate equipment, documentation, lab cleaning/restocking, good lab techniques)
