Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to work in a hands-on environment supporting Maintenance, shop floor, and operations management
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Self-starter with desire to promote continuous improvement
  • Previous painting experience with different brush styles and tools, including electrostatic paint guns
  • Experience using thickness gauges to measure paint thickness
  • Experience with sand/media blasting surfaces and rust removal
  • Ability to follow technical documents to properly mix, induce, and finish paints
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize own workload, and act with urgency
  • High mindset of reducing MTTR and MTBF, and completing projects on time
  • Ability to work on weekends if needed for maintenance or special projects
  • Six Sigma green or black belt certification preferred
  • Experience in New Product Development (NPD), Electric Vehicles, flow manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding, assembly methodologies, or paint systems desired

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new processes for paint processes and equipment at Fort Payne and Marathon facilities
  • Determine manufacturing processes related to paint applications and quality using lean and Six Sigma tools for new and existing products
  • Serve as Single Point of Contact (SPC) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Paint process and Blast and Paint equipment for both Heil and Marathon plants
  • Assist in developing the annual capital equipment budget for replacing End of Life manufacturing equipment related to surface preparation like Blast and Paint application
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day paint and pretreatment system processing problems, initiate solutions, and follow up to evaluate effectiveness
  • Ensure practical cleaning, prep, masking, painting, curing, and paint rework of production material
  • Prepare and recommend specifications, evaluate bids for contractor activities and/or equipment purchases, and make award recommendations
  • Work with Advanced ME and Maintenance Director to upgrade equipment to the latest technology
  • Actively participate in Production readiness buy-off process for new equipment launch, process changes, equipment relocation, etc
  • Actively support Safety Risk RPN reduction initiative
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support for the company and ongoing support for maintenance department related to paint in both plants
  • Assist in managing document control procedures through the existing QMS
  • Oversee justification, planning, and execution of individual capital projects related to Paint application equipment to timelines and within budget
  • Evaluate production capacity capabilities of existing operations and recommend/implement enhancements to improve paint capacity at both plants
