Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, communications, or other related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in PAC management, including PAC operations, compliance, fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and communications
  • Alternatively, minimum 7 years of related experience in political campaigns, legislative or congressional staff work, trade association advocacy, or public affairs, with demonstrable exposure to PAC operations and campaign finance compliance
  • Strong understanding of FEC regulations and campaign finance laws
  • Familiarity with political landscapes and advocacy environments
  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PAC administration tools, including fundraising platforms and compliance software
  • On-site work in the AEP Washington DC Office

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local campaign finance laws and regulations, including FEC filings and audit responses
  • Coordinate with AEP legal counsel, payroll, HR, and finance teams and external compliance vendor(s) on budgeting, disbursements, reporting, and record keeping
  • Maintain donor databases and track and regularly report on PAC performance, including fundraising and engagement metrics
  • In conjunction with Managing Director and external consultants, develop and execute strategies to grow PAC contributions and membership
  • Organize PAC-related events, donor campaigns, and promotional activities, including guiding and supporting PAC Leadership Committees
  • Develop messaging to educate employees and stakeholders about the PAC’s mission and impact
  • Create and manage PAC communications including newsletters, reports, presentations, and digital content and oversee PAC-related websites and platforms
  • Be responsive to internal AEP requests and maintain strong working relationships with internal colleagues
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the company’s Corporate Compliance Policy
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Oversee all aspects of the AEP PAC, including compliance, fundraising, communications, event coordination, and vendor management, ensuring it operates compliantly, ethically, and effectively
  • Work with AEP Operating Company external affairs teams and AEP PAC Leadership Committees in each state to support and advance AEP PAC’s mission
  • Work with other AEP departments (including payroll, human resources, finance and legal) and external PAC vendors and consultants to support the effective management of AEP PAC
