Requirements

  • 8+ years of managerial, fund accounting, and administration experience, preferably with private or open-ended funds; Private Credit exposure is an asset
  • Experience in asset management with exposure to audits, tax accounting, FATCA/CRS, SLFI reporting, and level 3 valuations
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA with IFRS specialization preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills with excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and accurate, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Proactive and innovative mindset, comfortable in unstructured settings and eager to suggest improvements
  • Collaborative, hands-on, and inclusive working style
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; proficiency in French is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the finance team for Sagard’s Private Credit strategy, overseeing departmental responsibilities and supporting investment team members
  • Oversee complex fund structures, ensuring accurate financial statements, investor/lender reporting, and fund accounting activities (journal entries, valuations, reconciliations, accruals, etc.)
  • Plan, manage, and review capital activity including calls, distributions, transfers, rebalances, and carried interest
  • Coordinate audits, tax, and regulatory reporting (FATCA/CRS, SLFI)
  • Recruit, coach, and develop finance team talent
  • Represent the department with internal and external stakeholders, including in investor due diligence
  • Manage relationships with service providers (fund administrators, lenders, custodians, auditors, advisors)
  • Oversee fund administration, process improvements, and compliance with LPAs and firm controls
  • Provide ad-hoc data and reporting to internal teams and support new fund launches and special projects
  • Review reports prepared by co-workers and accountants
  • Other tasks as required by the manager
