Requirements

  • Understands Abbott Corporate EH&S policies, guidelines and strategies
  • Understands, interprets, and ensures compliance with US and Canadian local governmental safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Act, MOL, OSHA, etc.) and Abbott Corporate Procedures and Standards
  • Stays current with environmental regulations

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary interface for the senior leadership team (SLT) on all matters relating to EH&S including strategic planning, initiatives and compliance, management responsibility, communications, training, metrics/KPIs and audits
  • Translates Abbott Corporate EH&S policies, guidelines and strategies into meaningful plans and goals for the division sites in Canada and U.S. and global commercial teams to ensure that EHS requirements are met in an effective and timely manner
  • Manages all aspects of corporate EH&S Audits including audit requests, logistics, actions, deliverables, and responses and ensures all sites remain audit ready
  • Provides direction and guidance for waste management strategy to ensure compliance with data reporting, Corporate and local regulations, and long-term goals
  • Ensures the required Abbott EH&S Management and Technical standards are adhered to throughout the Division including robust training regime
  • Collects EH&S metric data, such as waste, injuries, vehicle accidents, etc. for local and corporate reporting purposes
  • Works collectively with management to review areas of ownership and opportunity related to EH&S performance, mentors people managers on EH&S best practices, and establishes a culture of safety
  • Manages Fleet safety metrics for APOC global Commercial through establishing and monitoring KPIs and working collectively with management to address improvement opportunities
  • Acts as liaison with Third Party Occupational Health Services Provider to ensure that business and employee needs are met including return to work interviews, monitoring of absence levels, escalating any concerns to Management
  • Leads the safety committee mandate and inspections, and follows up with area owners on safety related opportunities
  • Leads and supports Continuous Improvement (CI) Initiatives while providing encouragement, motivation, and support
