Responsibilities

  • Manages, selects, trains, resources, coaches, and performance manages staff (e.g., CAS, CS, CRAs, CTCs, ACRAs, and other clinical operations staff)
  • Focuses on end results using metrics and key performance indicators to manage performance
  • Leads or contributes to initiatives that enhance department performance or lead to process improvement across the company
  • Collaborates with clinical operations senior management and executive staff on strategic planning and business development
  • Acts as point-of-escalation for performance concerns and training needs to ensure adherence to SOPs and WPDs
  • Works with leadership team for resourcing needs
  • Leads staff, providing coaching, mentorship, and work direction
  • Conducts regular performance appraisals and career discussions with staff; facilitates employee career development
  • Interviews, recruits, and selects staff
  • Leads induction/orientation programs for new employees
  • Ensures staff CVs, training records, position profiles, and experience profiles are complete and up-to-date
  • Ensures timeliness and accuracy of timesheets and expense reports
  • Supports allocation activities per local resourcing process
  • Supports project leads/functional leads to optimize project operations and raises issues impacting deliverables
  • Delivers training on WPDs, SOPs, local requirements, and other clinical operations subjects
  • Identifies training gaps and ensures training requirements are met; may contribute to training program development
  • Assures adherence to good ethical and regulatory standards
  • Alerts management to quality issues, requests QA audits, and facilitates client/internal quality assurance audits
  • Uses systems (e.g., Activate, CTMS, Preclarus, Clarity) to evaluate employee/project metrics, KPIs, and status
  • Evaluates staff work, including conducting PAVs (remote or on-site) to assess monitoring skills and project conduction
  • Participates in process improvement/development initiatives
  • Ensures understanding and facilitation of risk-based monitoring approach
  • Provides input into bids and contributes to new business procurement
