Requirements

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Driver's License - Licensing Board
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Preferred: Boiler Operator - Licensing Board
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a technical specialty such as electrical, plumbing

Responsibilities

  • Perform building inspections, replacing parts, cleaning, and oversee heating, plumbing, outdoor grounds & landscaping, and snow & ice removal to ensure a safe facility environment
  • Perform basic carpentry and maintenance work for the facility and fixtures, including painting and preparation work, remodeling projects, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Perform and complete routine repair and maintenance on machines and/or equipment (e.g., beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, office equipment, or other mechanical devices) on a scheduled basis or as requested
  • Monitor, operate, inspect, repair, test, and clean equipment and related activities that bring steam or chilled water to air handling systems, sterilizers, etc
  • Verify work order assignments and priorities, complete as assigned, and keep work areas neat and orderly
  • Perform and manage preventative maintenance program of facility building, grounds, equipment, and vehicles; create PM schedule, complete PM rounds, and maintain logs and records
  • Respond to facility emergency codes, demonstrate understanding of emergency protocols, assist with/conduct/document drills (e.g., fire, emergency weather), participate in safety inspections and lockdown procedures, inform leadership of safety concerns, make recommendations, and ensure proper use of PPE and safety policies
  • Remove equipment, trash, and hazardous waste material according to local, state, federal, and OSHA guidelines; handle recyclable materials and disposal of confidential documents; maintain records of regulations and medical waste
  • Work collaboratively with contractors and vendors to ensure contracted work is completed thoroughly and timely
  • Perform other tasks within scope such as off-site errands, patient transports, deliveries, minor housekeeping, inventory, parts ordering, etc
