Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in the food manufacturing industry
  • 4 years of experience working as an experienced level maintenance mechanic
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Complete working knowledge of the manufacturing process, typically from a minimum of five years’ experience in related jobs
  • PLC experience (plus)
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends, some overtime, and occasionally
  • Ability to follow manufacturing specifications and schematics
  • Knowledge of food grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques
  • Complete knowledge of fabrication techniques
  • Electrical knowledge and packing machinery experience (plus)
  • Possess a full complement of necessary hand and power tools for industrial manufacturing
  • Complete knowledge of all tools required for industrial maintenance, including those used to broach, mill, and lathe
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize items, and be self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate and understand safety issues, including reading safety equipment information and relaying to coworkers
  • Basic knowledge of control power and main power
  • Ability to identify and understand all different lubricants and their uses (from chain lube to high-performance synthetic lube)
  • Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene)
  • Understanding of pneumatic and water systems
  • Ability to use soldering techniques
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to identify appropriate motor frame, power load, and amp draw
  • Own set of professional electrical tools, including voltmeter and amp meter
  • Language skills: Ability to read and interpret quality documents

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment such as assembly, conveyors, forming, mixing (oven operations a plus)
  • Follow work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including use of all PPE and safety equipment in an industrial environment
  • Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, detect and replace defective items, test, and make final adjustments for high-speed production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical functions
  • Prioritize and triage in a fast-paced work environment
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer specifications while following preventative maintenance work orders and scheduled PMs
  • Generate work orders and parts requests
  • Use machine shop and other related machines as required to repair parts or fabricate modifications
  • Complete work orders, PMs, and related documentation
  • Use mechanical and pneumatic processes, including cylinders and glue machines, date coders
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate equipment
  • Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, & technical knowledge by actively participating in training
  • Provide competent and effective electrical and mechanical maintenance support to plant and facility operations in a safe manner
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and local government
