A minimum of 1 year of experience in a technician position with knowledge of gasoline and diesel powered equipment is required, along with basic understanding of work order labor time standards and prior experience with maintenance on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks. Moderate skill proficiency in chassis components, refuse bodies, control/hydraulic/electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, and heating/air conditioning is needed. ASE Certifications (T1-T8) and a Commercial Driver’s License are pluses but not required.
