Requirements

  • Good understanding of electrical control, automated systems, and manufacturing process equipment
  • Background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation control systems, or a combination
  • Recognized qualification in engineering such as C&G, HNC/HND level
  • Ideally undergone an engineering apprenticeship scheme
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Awareness of engineering stores spares control
  • Understanding of emergency procedures and safe systems of work
  • Ability to work in classified areas such as clean rooms with specific dress code
  • Adherence to GMP safety standards, environmental conditions (e.g., cold rooms, fluctuating temps, loud noises, PPE, hazardous materials, working at heights), and rotational shift schedule including nights/weekends

Responsibilities

  • Engage in planned and unplanned maintenance activities using problem-solving and lean manufacturing techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Drive improvements across the maintenance team to enhance efficiency, uphold 5S standards, and eliminate/reduce waste or non-value add activities
  • Participate in upgrading equipment, processes, and small projects
  • Support routine maintenance tickets to ensure equipment is maintained across site
  • Complete GMP documentation to high standards, highlight errors/bad practices, suggest improvements, and support progression (e.g., change controls)
  • Utilize external resources (e.g., contractors, specialists) and generate/complete documentation (e.g., purchase orders, spares requests, quotations, work permits)
  • Ensure personal activities (e.g., preventative maintenance tasks, training) are completed reliably on time against targets
  • Write clear and accurate maintenance instructions and assist with organizing/delivering training to engineering and non-engineering staff
  • Provide cover for team members (e.g., Technical Support, Engineering Coordinators)
