Requirements

  • High school or vocational degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of machine shop experience preferred
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of operating lathes and milling machines
  • Competence in operating and maintaining more than one machine in defined department
  • Ability to communicate proficiently both orally and in writing using the English language
  • Export compliance eligibility (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, operates and programs lathes both manual and CNC
  • Sets up, operates and programs milling machines both manual and CNC
  • Sets up and operates saws and drilling equipment
  • Interprets drawings and plans work in a proper operational sequence
  • Selects and sets “speeds” and “feeds” based on material being processed
  • Uses precision measuring tools to verify that all work is completed within the required tolerances
  • Inspects and maintains all tooling required to support the machining process
  • Performs troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance tasks on production equipment
  • Processes material samples as required
  • Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations and standard operating procedures to ensure personal safety and high product quality
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition on a daily basis by following 5S Standard Work practices
  • Cross trains in other process areas as time permits
