Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical skills and electrical repair knowledge
  • Working experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical (480v), and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Good vision required
  • Ability to lift slabs of lead up to 40 lbs periodically

Responsibilities

  • Operation of Caster: Start up and operation including monitoring lead temperature, lead flow, tundish level, pool level, and caster speed; responsible for belt, snout, dump box, and tundish condition; perform routine product changeovers and maintenance
  • Operation of Rolling Mill: Start up and operation including monitoring pinch roll, accumulator level, slab thickness reduction, coolant levels, and winding of lead strip; responsible for thread up, strip take up operation, strip coil changes, and routine maintenance
  • Operation of the Press: Start up and operation including transfer of strip coil to payout, threading through press/die, monitoring continuous operation; responsible for lubrication levels, grid progression, grid take up, scrap return, removal of wound grids, routine maintenance, using touch screens for adjustments, and efficient changeover of dies
  • Operation of Lead Pot: Perform pot drossing, melting of scrap, operation of reclaim pot, material handling, and cleanup tasks
  • Routine maintenance of equipment including snout, belt, roll cleaner, striper, die, and other associated equipment
  • Assist shift maintenance with equipment PM, breakdowns, and other routine maintenance; comply with Lock Out, Tag Out, and Electrical Procedures
  • Assist in training new personnel to perform work assignments safely and efficiently
  • Follow environmental regulations for proper handling of hazardous waste material
  • Perform necessary quality checks and follow procedures for non-conforming product
