Candidates should have significant experience managing engineering teams, preferably in machine learning or related technical fields. Extensive hands-on experience building and operating large-scale Ads or Marketplace systems is required, along with demonstrated success in people management, team building, hiring, and performance management. Familiarity with PID controllers, multi-armed bandits, reinforcement learning, or other bidding/pricing optimization approaches is preferred, as is expertise in system architecture, scalability, real-time streaming, and robust data pipelines. Knowledge of metric design, experimentation methodologies, and large-scale data analysis is also necessary. Ads domain knowledge is a plus.
The Machine Learning Manager will set the technical vision and strategy for the Auto-Bidding team, defining and executing the long-term roadmap while collaborating with leadership on technology investments. They will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance advertiser- and sales-facing recommendation and forecasting systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and advertiser satisfaction. Additionally, they will recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, foster a collaborative culture, and partner with Product Managers and other engineering teams to align technical work with product requirements. The manager will also champion continuous improvement by driving best practices for model quality, experimentation, system reliability, and operational excellence, while identifying opportunities to increase engineering velocity, reduce costs, and improve system performance.
