Requirements

  • Experience in supervising others

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates loaders to cover expected pick-up appointments
  • Ensures forklift activities are completed in a safe manner
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and determines layout patterns of shipments
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas
  • Prepares bills of lading
  • Issues written and oral instructions to subordinates
  • Maintains productive work environment by encouraging team members, providing constructive feedback and setting attainable expectations
  • Oversees preparation of production plan (generated several times a day)
  • Gives logistic leadership vision of upcoming pack needs for major retailers
  • Coordinates with shipping the rotation of inventory
  • Works with Customer Service if they have questions regarding product availability
  • Has an understanding of quality trigger dates and quality standards to ensure inbound/outbound inspections are completed
