Requirements

Candidates should possess 5-8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in localization project management or operations, preferably in tech or app development. A Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Localization, International Studies, or a related field is required, along with experience using localization platforms like Smartling, Phrase, or Localize. Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and freelance localization resources, familiarity with multilingual UI/UX best practices, experience working with engineering, product, and design teams, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent project management skills are also necessary. Team members must be within commuting distance of New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, or San Francisco, CA hubs.

Responsibilities

The Localization Operations Manager will oversee the entire localization process, ensuring accurate adaptation of app content for multiple languages and consistent product terminology. This role serves as the primary point of contact for localization operations, responding to platform issues and troubleshooting problems. Responsibilities include collaborating with engineering, product, and design teams to address localization concerns and app formatting issues, developing and maintaining relationships with third-party localization vendors and translators, and overseeing translation and app formatting quality. The manager will collaborate with QA teams for localization testing, track and report on project progress, and continuously evaluate and improve localization workflows, tools, and vendor performance. Maintaining consistency of product terminology across all application content by enforcing guidelines and glossaries is also a key duty.
