Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) licensure
  • Ability to function under direct supervision of a registered nurse
  • Knowledge of Fresenius Medical Care (FME) policies, procedures, training standards, and Clinical Services Clinical Training Manual(s)
  • Compliance with state, federal, and corporate regulations for dialysis therapy
  • Experience or capability in home dialysis health care team settings (HT facility and patient's home)
  • Skills in phlebotomy and administering intravenous medications per physicians’ orders and state nurse practice laws

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under direct RN supervision in HT facility and patient's home
  • Train new HT LPN/LVNs and Home Therapies PCTs under in-person direct RN supervision
  • Assist with clinical orientation, precepting, and ongoing training of direct patient care personnel and facility staff to FME
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and competency evaluations/audits of clinical staff
  • Function as a preceptor in direct patient care training programs per FME standards
  • Collaborate with manager and Education on CKD/AKI-D regulations, Continuous Quality Improvement, and quality standards
  • Provide coaching and developmental support to clinical and facility staff
  • Partner with RN and IDT to educate on facility water systems, environmental integrity, and staff/patient safety
  • Ensure strong communication on training and organizational development programs
  • Implement/design educational programs (e.g., contests, team-based) for direct patient care staff
  • Monitor patient care delivery through QAI activities and support QEP/QAI, including patient satisfaction and process improvements
  • Provide direct patient care per physicians’ orders and state laws, including IV medications and lab specimen collection
  • Assist Home Therapies Manager in identifying, evaluating, and training employee candidates for home dialysis
  • Reinforce patient training content introduced by qualified home therapies training nurse
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Promote and assist in safe, clean working environment
