Requirements

  • 4–8 years of legal experience with a solid track record at prestigious law firms and/or in-house at multinational corporations (experience in the medical devices or pharmaceutical industry is preferred)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; capable of reviewing and drafting legal documents in English
  • Experience in commercial litigation, external inquiries, or comprehensive document drafting is a plus
  • PRC bar qualification
  • LLB or LLM from a reputable law school in China (overseas education background is a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as legal counsel and business partner to designated operating units and functions on an ongoing basis
  • Advise relevant stakeholders on commercial and corporate legal matters
  • Review, draft and advise on agreements and documents relating to business developments or operations
  • Identify improvement opportunities in contract templates and management processes
  • Advise internal clients on a variety of commercial and corporate matters
  • Identify potential areas of legal risk and/or vulnerability; develop and implement corrective action plans and provide guidance on avoiding or addressing similar issues
  • Manage litigation or other dispute resolution with external counsel based on internal alignment
  • Liaise and communicate with government agencies on an as-needed basis
  • Deliver legal training to internal stakeholders to enhance awareness of regulations and internal policies
  • Submit regular reports and updates to the Senior Legal Manager or Chief Counsel on key matters as required
  • Oversee Chinese external counsel to ensure effective legal/business advice to internal clients in a cost-effective way
  • Work within and actively promote Medtronic’s core mission, corporate strategies, policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
