Requirements

Skilled Lead Software Developer with extensive software design and implementation skills
Experienced and motivated individual
Skilled in the use of current programming languages and tools
Acts as a team resource on custom development initiatives
Passionate about building robust software that functions 24/7 with no downtime
Passionate about creating scalable software, SDKs, and APIs

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of new safety features in MyGeotab fleet management software
Guide the technical direction of the team
Mentor colleagues
Ensure that only reliable, well-tested code is shipped to customers
Support and mentor teams in solving tricky problems over large data sets
Work closely with the data science team
Independently and proactively identify key areas of architecture improvement, including preparing proposals
Lead, oversee, and plan the development of scalable code, prototypes, minimum viable products, and PoCs
Take ownership of complex/long-term projects, including defining scope, requirements, communicating progress, challenges, and solutions, while ensuring timely delivery
Collaborate with other development teams on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products
Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure code quality is maximized and best practices are followed
Provide expert project-leadership and guidance as a subject matter expert (SME) to the department and larger organization
Contribute to defining strategic direction and planning the roadmap
