Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or a related field (or suitable combination of education, experience and training)
  • 7+ years of applied experience in system design, integration of hardware solutions, robotics, or other mechatronics roles
  • Experience as a technical lead within a multi-disciplinary team that includes vendors, integrators, and software engineers
  • Comfortable with hands-on fabrication and assembly
  • Comfortable moving fast and working with incomplete information
  • Comfortable working in multiple engineering domains
  • Experience programming industrial robots (ABB a plus)
  • Experience programming microcomputers and microcontrollers
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (Python or C++ a plus)
  • Experience with System Analysis (MATLAB a plus)
  • Software version control experience a plus
  • Computer vision experience a plus
  • Ability to dream, think, solve, and grow
  • Curious and self-driven with skills across mechanical, electrical and software, and a specific passion for robotics

Responsibilities

  • Act as an automation knowledge base and resource to multiple concurrent programs
  • Clearly communicate and explain automation and robotics capabilities/limitations in both technical and non-technical manners
  • Actively seek to understand and interpret program objectives
  • Translate program objectives into machine requirements
  • Develop solutions to meet requirements through an iterative, collaborative and data-driven approach
  • Design and build machine prototypes to test ideas and provide a platform for Process Engineers to define key process variables and interactions
  • Develop core robotics modules and peripheral systems (electromechanical systems including robotics, computer vision, sensors and microcontrollers) through hands-on creation and external partnerships
  • Manage external partnerships
  • Plan and execute strategies that leverage expertise
  • Develop team members both within and outside the Automation and Robotics function
  • Landscape and research new hardware, software and controls tools
  • Become a subject matter expert in new areas
  • Partner with Technical Program Managers, Process Engineers, Technicians, Materials and Software experts
  • Collaborate to stand-up new capabilities in Innovation
