Requirements
The Lead Data Scientist should possess 7+ years of professional experience in Data Science, demonstrating expertise in Python with libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, Spacy, Sklearn, Pytorch/TF2, and HuggingFace. Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art models for NLP, including sentence transformers, word embeddings, and similarity measures is required, along with experience in probabilistic machine learning for classification, regression, and clustering. Candidates should have experience in feature engineering, data preprocessing, and building machine learning models for large datasets, as well as familiarity with Information Retrieval, Web scraping, and Data Extraction at scale. Furthermore, they should be proficient in SQL, possess Linux OS experience, and have experience with Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Data Scientist, the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying ML-powered products and pipelines, playing a central role in the entire data science project lifecycle, from identifying opportunities to presenting results. This includes partnering with business leaders and domain experts to gather requirements, performing exploratory data analysis, building proof-of-concept models, benchmarking models, and setting up model validation experiments. The role also involves training large models for both experimentation and production, developing production-ready pipelines for enterprise-scale projects, conducting code reviews and optimization, spearheading deployment and model scaling strategies, and managing stakeholder expectations. Finally, the Lead Data Scientist will be expected to lead and mentor the team, applying software craftsmanship principles, adhering to Agile methodologies, and taking pride in writing high-quality code.
