Data Science Lead
AtomicFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree and over 4 years of experience in research/ML engineering or an applied research scientist role, with a focus on production-ready AI solutions. A minimum of 2 years of experience leading AI/ML system development is required, along with a proven track record of building production-grade AI models that yield strong UX and behavioral outcomes. Expertise in supervised learning, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), or preference modeling is essential, as are strong communication skills to effectively collaborate across data science, product, and engineering teams. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis/data mining tools, experience with machine learning frameworks like Pytorch, JAX, LangChain, or LangGraph, and experience with high performance, large-scale ML systems and language modeling with transformers are also necessary. Additionally, candidates should have experience with large-scale ETL and over 5 years of experience in applied ML, with at least 3 years in conversational AI, human-in-the-loop systems, or agent UX optimization.
The Lead Data Scientist will define and drive the advancement of AI-Human interaction by leading the design of adaptive, human-aware AI systems that learn from, respond to, and collaborate with humans. Key responsibilities include developing and owning ML pipelines for evaluating and improving human-AI interaction across various modalities, designing adaptive models for intent recognition, dialog state tracking, preference learning, and multi-turn personalization, and leading human-in-the-loop data collection strategies and feedback integration. The role involves partnering with UX, engineering, and safety teams to embed explainability, user control, and alignment into AI systems, developing and monitoring human-centered evaluation metrics, and constructing causal inference and A/B testing to assess the impact of interaction strategies. Additionally, the Lead Data Scientist will mentor a team of data scientists and collaborate with AI researchers and product leaders on foundational interaction improvements, and create reports, projections, models, and presentations for executives.
